"it's really really good vibes at the new place.  it's been an intense few weeks though: clark & sherri visiting, amadeus graduating, bolder boulder, zan's birthday, packing, painting, moving, packing, cleaning, unpacking, roofers & handyman working on the house, planting and transplanting, and capped off by two days of ytt.  whew.  there's still alot of unpacking to do but we are in, flowers are growing, no more ytt prep for now, no visitors.  life can settle into it's new normal at new home number 31.

the lovenest."

i've been missing lately life off the grid; missing the stillness of a little cabin in the woods and the life that revolves around daylight and dust.  i miss the quiet of the forest, silent except for the crunching leaves under my feet.  i miss waking out there - so far from any human noise - to birds and sunlight.  i miss the smell of cut wood and the nighttime visits from lions and bears, terrifying as they may have been at the time.  i miss my cabin friends, our delicious feasts, our arts and crafts, our gardening, our guitaring and our laughing.  i miss river days.  i wouldn't trade my life now for a life i once had, but i know that in my happiest future, there is a cabin in the woods.

so many animals, so many plants, so much heat, so much sand, so much rain, so many spiders, so much thunder, so much sweat, so much water, so much ocean, so many blisters, so much bug spray, so much sunscreen, so much mud, so much jungle.

for an almost complete list of animals spotted:

back on the front range of the rockies where the world to the west rises in dramatic and jagged, snow-covered, rock faces and the world to the east flattens for as far as eye can see into a endless horizon line.  it's chilly and snow lingers in shady places, but every plant has a bud and the green grass begins to peak through the brown.
