"i awoke from a dream about trimming, and trim scenes, and the golden glow of adventure and misogyny. a bunch of women, kept sometimes literally in a tower, working for a man. the good old days. there we worked, day in, day out, cut off from the outside world. testing our patience, our courage, our livers, our minds, until the leaves turned gold and the air grew chilly. we worked and worked until pumpkins came, until it snowed, until we couldn't work another day. then - freedom! giant stacks of cash and freedom to go wherever, to be your own guide. to leave town and never look back; until the next season.
it's fall here now, so the hills have infiltrated my subconscious.
last night we slept with the windows shut. the air is much cooler and the leaves are turning and falling. but fall in this world just isn't as exciting as fall in that other."
this is julie........ just sipping champagne in a limo on a rainy wednesday night.
for the past five days while i have been sick in bed it has been raining, no pouring. today we are on flash flood and areal flood alert. the ground has literally become so saturated that it can hold no more moisture and the water has begun to pool, puddle and overflow in low-lying areas. meanwhile the flash flooding effects the creeks and streams as the water swells and overruns the banks. this is obviously very unusual weather in such an arid climate. in fact, i've never thought this ever before in colorado, but i wish it would stop raining.
this is just a reminder: it can't be sunshine all the time. sometimes you need the sky to darken, the clouds to crack open and the storm to come. otherwise, nothing would grow.
another adventure under our belts, and what an adventure it's been!
my three big goals of this year were
1. to learn to surf
2. to get certified to teach yoga
3. to learn spanish
having bagged number 1 and 2 i figured it was time to do something about number three. so, today was my first day of spanish lessons at intercultura. i am literally so excited to be in school. i forgot what a nerd i am.
