the getaway
"....so here i am, waiting for my coffee in the cool stillness of this country road morning. i sit here and watch as the sun stretches it's fingers down the valley, reaching slowly towards me.
"i'm so happy you're here!" c said, beaming at me, when i arrived, which is, even when you're town-tired, road-tired, heat-addled and hungover, a really great way to be greeted.
"i'm really happy to be here," i said feebly, "don't let the tiredness fool you...."
